General Surgery Division Community Service
The Division participates in a number of outreach programs in education for the community and medical professionals on evidence-based practice and new technology that is on the horizon. Presentations include programs to further the mission of Safe Kids, as part of a nationwide network of organizations working to prevent unintentional childhood injury, the leading cause of death and disability for children ages 1 to 14.
Our faculty also give presentations at Rotary, Lions Club, local schools and colleges, and for religious groups in the community. In addition, the roles of general and trauma surgeons are discussed with prospective students considering a career in medicine and surgery. To learn about the various topics our faculty can address and to arrange for a presentation in the community, please visit the page of our Surgical Speakers Bureau.
